Tropical Storm Alex came lashing in to parts in Central America and was reported to have killed at least 10 people.Now, the tropical storm is predicted to escalate into a hurricane Tuesday.

It is anticipated that the storm will travel well west and south 50 miles off the Louisiana coast,the site of the spill.

A BP spokesman said Monday that the company’s plan to relocate the third containment vessel to the site of the spill may be rescheduled for a week by the high waves.

Government officials estimate that approximately 35,000 to 60,000 barrels of oil are siphoning from the damaged well everyday.

BP’s current containment system is able to handle 28,000 of barrels each day.
Bp said that they had planned additional measures that would have raised the figure to 53,000 bpd.
