” Karate Kid” Dominates The Box Office

Hollywood royalty, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith’s son rules the box office as Jaden Smith’s first starring role in “The Karate Kid”.
The movie propels the box office up to 11 percent up this year.
According to the exit pollster CinemaScore, “The Karate Kid” grossed an estimated of $56M and had earned grade A from the audience.It wouldn’t be a surprise if the movie will become one of the summer’s biggest hit.
The Karate Kid, known as The Kung Fu Kid in China and Japan, and Best Kid in South Korea, is a 2010 American/Chinese martial arts remake of the 1984 film of the same name.Produced by Will Smith.The movie took place in in Beijing, China.
The plot is about a boy from Detroit who relocated to China with his mother and faced the wrath of the class bully at his new school. He makes an unlikely ally in the form of his aging maintenance man, a kung fu master (Jackie Chan) who teaches him the secrets to self-defense.
The movie,”Karate Kid” stars the Asian superstar Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith and is directed by Harald Zwart. Distributed by Columbian Pictures.
Other movies that dominated the box office include; “The A- Team” that garnered $26M at its opening and earned a solid B+ grade from the audience.”Shrek Forever After” earned another $15.8 M,38 percent lesser than last weekend’s box office.
Next is “Get Him to the Greek” earned $10.1 M this weekend.
“Killers” that stars Ashton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl fell off less than 50 percent and is on the fifth spot.
Meanwhile,Prince of Persia, on its third week grossed around $6.5M,with a total gross of $72.3 M from its opening date.
“Marmaduke”,the talking dog movie earned $6M in its second week of showing with a two-week gross of $22.2M
“Sex and the City 2″ totaled an astounding $84.7 M on its thirs box office weekend,earned another $5.5 m for this weekend.
“Iron Man 2″ adds another $4.5 M to its almost $300M coffers.
“Splice” earned $2.8 M,60 percent less of its value and has only grossed $13M two weeks after the release.
