Earlier this week, Gazprom said that Belarus was behind on its payments for natural gas and the company deducted the amount of gas it supplied to the former Soviet Republic with a total of 60 percentage.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said that Gazprom also owed money for transporting the Russian gas to Europe. Then, the Belarus government threatened to curtail gas delivery through its pipelines to Europe to make it up for the losses.
